HEALTH EQUITY: From Challenges to Solutions

free web stats
June 5, 2008
Ryerson University, Toronto,

This one day Toronto Central LHIN-wide conference provides a unique opportunity for front line workers, health administrators, policy-makers, and consumer networks to come together and learn about the challenges of health inequities, as well as strategies for creating a more equitable health system that responds to the needs of all.

Confirmed speakers include: James Orbinski (Médecins sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders), Anthony Culyer (Professor, University of Toronto and University of York, UK), and Uzma Shakir (Atkinson Economic Justice Fellow, Atkinson Charitable Foundation).

The morning session will provide thought-provoking presentations by leaders in the field that bring the latest thinking and use concrete examples of what is working at the local level.

After a networking lunch, participants will 'roll up their sleeves' and work together to name and create concrete solutions for the health inequity challenges that resonate most for their community.

Sponsored by the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) in partnership with Solutions: East Toronto's Health Collaborative, Canadian Research Network for Care in the Community (CRNCC), West End Urban Health Alliance (WEUHA), and South East Toronto Project (SETo).
