Parks and Rec Programs for special needs kids

by Meg
(Brampton, Ontario, Canada)

Hello i am writing to make a few programs more aware within the City of Bramptons special needs department.

Swim and Explore - a swimming program for children aged 5-12 where we swim for an hour and then play in the bouncy castle, colour, listen to music, dance, play with instruments, toys, chalk and make new friends. This program starts in January at Loafers Lake recreation center in Brampton. It runs from 12:30 - 3:30 each week. Contact any City of Brampton rec center to register.

Skate and Explore - a skating program for children from 5-12 where we skate and then participate in games and activities. This program runs on Monday nights at south Flechures in Brampton. Contact any City of Brampton rec center to register.

Expressive Creations - this is a new program that your special needs child can do with their brothers or sisters (age 5-12). It is a program that works on fine motor skills, following instructions and creativity. Children work on fun crafts such as painting, cooking, decorating, and making friends. This program runs on Thursday nights from 6 - 7:30 at Loafters Lake rec center. Contact any City of Brampton rec center to register.

There are other programs for other age groups please contact any rec center to find out more information. Hope to meet you soon!

I am a photographer that is passionate working with special needs children. I have worked in childcare most of my life and always involved myself into special needs programs.

I am very interested in providing families with special photography sessions at their leisure.

I am happy to forward my pictures and I look forward in getting more involved.
