MacLaren stroller recall not applicable in Canada

You may have heard about a massive recall of MacLaren strollers, and be worried about how to get it in Canada.

Well... you can't actually.

The recall was jointly issued by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and only applies to specific strollers sold in the US since 1999.

Special needs strollers, the Major Elite series, are not included in the list.

Nor is there any confirmed evidence that it should be either.

At issue is that some kids have been reported to have caught their fingers in the hinge mechanisms of the umbrella strollers. For 12 kids, the injury was serious enough to cause a fingertip amputation.

The recall is to alert consumers to obtain a special 'repair kit' from MacLaren or from specific dealers.

The repair kit will provide a cover for the hinge area, so that kids won't be as likely to get their fingers caught.

You can read the official recall notice here:US Consumer Product Safety Commission - MacLaren stroller recall notice
